The following anecdote was received by me as a forward.

A man was celebrations his 100th birthday. Everyone around complimented him on how healthy and athletic he appeared and also, enquiring how he managed to do it.

“Well, I will tell you the secret of my success,” he said. “My wife and I were married 75 years ago. On our wedding day, we made a solemn pledge. Whenever we had an argument, or fight, the one who proved wrong would go outside and take a walk for 5 kilometres. Gentlemen, I have been walking in the open air, day after day, for some 75 years now.”

Amidst the tumultuous applause that followed, one friend ventured to enquire, “How come your wife too is slim and energetic!”

The man takes a deep breath before saying, “That is another secret. My wife invariably would follow me to check whether I did all of the 5 kilometres or sat in a park!”

The moral of the story to all the husbands out there – in fact, two of them: If you have been in the habit of losing arguments at home, don’t lose heart or be embarrassed; you are not the only one. Second, don’t attempt to renege on your part of the bargain because your better half is too smart to let you to get away with it.
